AirPods 2 Model Numbers Discovered Lately Suggest The Release Is Not Far Away

So, are we ready to get an AirPods refresh? Well, it seems quite likely after the discovery of new model numbers for the AirPods that were actually added to regulatory database of Bluetooth Special Interest Group on the 1st of November.

The newly revealed model numbers A2031 and A2032 are actually believed to be corresponding to new upcoming left and right AirPods. These new devices have already completed Bluetooth Qualification Process successfully.

The hardware model number for current AirPods is REV1.0 and new models will have it as REV1.1 which suggests we certainly have updated Bluetooth & W1-equipped earphones on the cards in near future.

There have been rumors floating around for months about the imminent release of these new AirPods and even though many were of the view that they’d be arriving in September at the iPhone event or, maybe, in October at the iPad event but that didn’t actually happen. Now, as it appears, the new updated AirPods are expected to be announced through a press release.

It is not yet confirmed as to what features will arrive with new AirPods, but the rumors suggest that there will be hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ support which is certainly going to be a part of these new devices. When AirPower charging hub hasn’t yet left the horizon, it is expected that we are going to have the latest wireless charging case to come as part of this AirPod update. However, that is not listed in updated Bluetooth database which means we can’t be sure of it yet. In case if Apple actually releases its new wireless charging case, it would mean that AirPower device won’t go off the radar any time soon and is still under works somewhere at Apple.

It was November 20th when the same Bluetooth database was added with original AirPods and that was before the 13th December launch. Now, if the pattern continues to repeat itself, it may not be too long for us to wait prior to getting our hands at the latest AirPods release well before 2018 ends.
