Lately, we haven’t been receiving the most encouraging iPhone 12 leaks, but Apple has suddenly confirmed arguably the biggest upgrade to its upcoming iPhone line.
The upcoming iPhone 12 models will feature a big, circular array of magnets in them. Following various hardware leaks, it’s been confirmed by 9to5mac why they even exist, after the source attained a video depicting a prototype of the upcoming Apple magnetic wireless charger.
The device that appears in the video seems to be from Apple: a minimalistic white circle having a charging coil as well as a connector on its back. In addition, the source notes that a comparison of this charger with the leaked iPhone 12 circle of magnets’ schematics reveals that “The dimensions of the charging module pictured in today’s video seems to line-up.”
In addition, the magnets are meant to do much more than simply helping in accurate placement of the device on the charging mat. It is also understood that they are just the first step ahead of the arrival of so many different magnetic accessories that are under works, like car mounts. Apple is set to lend a major ‘helping hand’ this year to boost the sales of such magnetic wireless accessories and chargers as they plan to remove regular wired chargers from their iPhone boxes.
Furthermore, lots of choices are expected as well. According to 9to5Mac, this new prototype might be some Apple “development unit that the company will provide to third-party accessory makers similar to what it does with the Apple Watch charger and other parts through its MFi program.” What that means is, regardless of the design that Apple finalizes, one can expect magnetic wireless chargers to be officially released in all sizes and shapes soon after Apple’s iPhone 12 range comes out.
The introduction of magnets appears to be a welcoming addition to the new iPhone 12 models which are apparently getting less ambitious as much as we learn about them. On top of everything are some major concerns around the battery life. That implies the performance of the new ambitious charging system of the phones will probably be the most important upgrade coming through. Particularly, with Apple expected to launch a new port-less iPhone device in 2021.
