You might have heard a thing or two about duplicating apps on the iOS 10 devices but here we’ll be guiding you through the process. No jailbreak is required for this.
App duplication may be needed for different reasons. For instance, you may have a couple of Facebook accounts that you wantto use concurrently or there may be several profiles you may be running on a particular game that you love. In both these situations, you’d love to take the route of duplicating apps on iPhone.
So, no matter what the reason may be, it is very much possible for you to install several versions of just one app. For duplicating iOS apps, however, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops. For app duplication, it is important that you are running Mac with the Xcode and have access to Cydia Impactor and iTunes. If you’re able to manage that then simply follow the steps given here.
How To Go About Duplicating Apps On iPhone?
So, let’s get on with the process of duplicating apps. Here are the steps that you need to follow.
- Locate hacked IPA for a particular app that you intend to duplicate. The apps can be retrieved from various different sources and, therefore, you can search the web without any concerns.
- Copy your desired app to the desktop and change the name of .ipa to .zip file.
- Now double click to extract the renamed file to new folder.
- Now go to this extracted folder and find a new folder with the name Payload. Drag it to the desktop.
- Find the app file in Payload folder and right-click on the file. Select the option labeled ‘Show Package Contents’.
- Now in this packagefind info.plist file and open it using Xcode.
- In this plist file search for the line with Bundle Identifier in it and change the Value to something different – for instance, com.company.appname.
- In Xcode window, open File menu and select Savefor committing the changes that you have just made.
- Now close and exit Xcode, right-click on Payload folder. In the menu that opens, select Compress. It will create another .zip folder.
- Rename this .zip file and change the extension to .ipa (the reverse of what you did in the start). You can choose whatever file name you want but try to keep it similar to the duplicating app so that you know what it actually is.
- Plug in your iPhone and launch Cydia Impactor. Now sideloadthis recently modified IPA file.
- After sideloading the app on your iPhone running iOS 10, launch Settings app. Go to General and then Device Management. Next, tap the Apple ID you use and you will find out the app which has just been copied using Cydia Impactor. Verify app’s certificate by tapping Trust and Trust again.
That’s all you have to do. If you have not installed the app’s original version already, simply download it from App Store and install on your device. By now, you will have two versions of the same app installed on your iPhone and you’ll be able to see both on the Home Screen.
So, enjoy this new added functionality of your iPhone and start using multiple accounts at the same time. Give it a try and see how it turns out to be at the end of the day!
