The new iOS 11 doesn’t just come with an all-new one-handed keyboard but it has also been integrated in such a way that it is fairly easy to use and you do not really need to spend hours for learning it.

Ever since the support for third party keyboards has been introduced by Apple, there have been lots and lots of keyboard experiences introduced by developers for iOS platform but they all have been quite difficult in terms of understanding them. But the new integration that has now been introduced by Apple is pretty much straightforward and is quite similar to the standard iOS keyboard experience. Besides, it makes things a lot easier when it comes to typing on your iOS device, especially the ones with bigger screens.

And, if you have always been irritated by that conventional keyboard then you should definitely take advantage of this wonderful capability introduced in the iOS 11. The process to enable or disable the one-handed keyboard is pretty simple and you don’t really have to worry about anything at all.

Steps To Enable On-Handed Keyboard In iOS 11

Here are the steps that you need to follow for enabling this new one-handed keyboard in iOS.

HOW TO CREATE ICLOUD PHOTO LIBRARY BACKUP

  1. First of all, you will have to open some app that needs some text input as this will make the keyboard to display. Whether it is Whatsapp, in-built Messages app, or Facebook, you can use all of them as they offer typing capabilities in one way or another.
  2. Now, if you will try to write some text in any of these applications with just one hand then you will really find it hard no matter which device you are using. One-handed typing experience can, however, be made easier by triggering one-handed keyboard. For this tap the Emoji or Globe icon on keyboard and hold it. Doing so will show a few symbols.
  3. Among those symbols you’ll see an arrow pointing towards right and tapping it will automatically shift your keyboard to right side of that interface. It’s a perfect setting for the right-handed people as they can use keyboard with one hand only and it all will be quite easy for them. Alternately, you can tap the arrow that is pointing towards left as well to shift keyboard towards left side. This setting will be great for one-handed typing experience for the left-handers.
  4. So, typing will be a lot easier for you in each of these modes and you can be able to type text normally while chatting or updating statuses, for instance. However, if you want to bring your keyboard back to normal you’ll again have to tap the arrow that you will see on right/left side of keyboard and it will expand to the original state automatically.

So, that’s all about this wonderful new feature of the iOS 11 that certainly proves to be really effective. Though Apple took the chance of introducing all those commercial and major features at the WWDC, these small refinements and improvements are really great and make iOS 11 a great modern day operating system.

Apple is trying hard to improve the user experience day in and day out and this one-handed keyboard thing is just one of many great improvements from Apple in its upcoming iOS 11.
