Google Drive Brings Files App Integration For iOS 11 To Fix A Bug

Google today came up with an update to Google Drive iOS app that was meant to fix a bug which causes the files to be hijacked when they’re opened using Files apps or iCloud Drive on iPhones/iPads. The full integration is also added with Files app in iOS 11.

This new update is available as free download on App Store and fixes the said issue making things work just as you’d expect them to. You can now view documents from within Files or iCloud Drive apps whether you are using the latest iOS 11 or iOS 10.

Even though previous versions of the app work, if you try to open an MS Word file that is in DOCX format Google Drive will automatically opt to save that as it’s the default setting in the app to handle such files. However, that’s not how it is meant to behave because the app’s basic function is to give you access to all the files that you have save on the cloud. So, the update version 4.2017.37510 now comes out to fix that.

Even though the issue that we’ve specified above isn’t mentioned in new version’s changelog, it’s confirmed that those updating their app aren’t expected to face the problem again. However, one thing is confirmed by the changelog is that the app is now fully compatible with the Files app in iOS 11.

Here’s what the new version comes with

– Access, organize and share files in the Google Drive, integrated with Files app in iOS 11 now.

Even though Google has found it hard to keep up with making its apps more useful and productive on iOS platform, but this is a good step forward to introduce the update and fixing the bugs. Google Drive itself is a good app as it lets iOS users access all their files easily from the cloud servers of Google should they opt for it.

So, if you’re an iOS user, but prefer Google Drive for your cloud storage needs, you can grab this new update from App Store now!
