iOS 12 Comes With A Much Awaited iMessages Fix Creating One Thread For Linked Numbers & Addresses

Apple is all set to fix a much awaited issue in its iMessage app which has been an annoyance for many users for a long time. Now with iOS 12 beta 8 almost getting there, we are expected to see the issue getting fixed as Apple has addressed it in the release.

There have been reports that anyone who opens Messages app the very first time after updating it to the latest beta version is welcomed with an updated splashscreen that explains the new features being brought to the Messages app. The major addition among those updated features is that of more streamlined conversations.

If you read it further on that splashscreen, it says that the messages will now be kept under a single thread or conversation whenever you’ll be sending/receiving messages from the linked addresses in iMessage. Now, if we are to believe this description, it means that if anybody sends/receives a message from one person for whom two different identifiers are used in the app – i.e. the email address and the phone number – they will not see two different conversations in the app anymore. If you have installed iOS 12 beta 8 on your iOS device, you’ll see both these threads merging together and kept under a single conversation which should have been the case initially.

Before this update, if someone was in conversation with their friend using iMessage thread on their contact number, it would have worked fine until a message was accidentally sent or received to that same person through their registered email address. Such a situation would always lead to a couple of conversation windows opening up even when both the identifiers were already linked on the phone within same iMessage account.

It certainly is not quite welcoming that such glaring problem has seen this much time for rectification. However, if you have installed iOS 12 on your device, even in its beta form, you will not have the face the same problem anymore.
