    iOS 12 Beta 1 Speed Test Comparison With iOS 11.4 On iPhone 5s, 6/6s, 7, 8

The WWDC 2018 opening keynote is now over and developer-facing conference will be continuing in regular sessions over the week. The opening keynote revealed iOS 12 initial pre-release seed. Though we know Apple’s official stance about its performance as well as the speed improvements, however, it’s yet to be tested.

To make things simpler, iAppleBytes – the YouTube channel – has come forward to reveal the performance of the new iOS through side-by-side speed test.

iOS 12 Beta 1 Speed Test

As always, the format of the speed test videos remains the same as it judges the speed quite well and offers results depending on the way individuals might be using the device. To conduct the tests, latest iOS 12 beta and the iOS 11.4 version are installed on iPhone 5s, 6/6s, 7 and 8 with the goal of running several tasks like opening/closing apps in several runs and find out which iOS version handles things in a more efficient manner. The tests also notice if there are any kind of speed improvements whatsoever coming with iOS 12.

The side-by-side comparisons clearly show that definitely there are some improvements made to iOS 12 that have helped improve the overall speed and performance across different devices. It is also quite evident, however, that it does not really live up to the claims of Apple that the new iOS version offers twice the speed of previous iOS versions. Well, that must have been a generic PR-based and marketing term used because a few processes within the latest iOS iteration must have seen significant speed improvements compared to iOS 11 version being tested. However, overall the new iOS doesn’t simply outsmart the previous iOS version. Remember, however, that the tests have been conducted on the initial beta seed made available for iOS 12 and the results are quite impressive if taken in that particular context.

In months to come, Apple will be pushing out new iOS 12 versions to the developers and the platform will also be opened to the public testers as well. There will be incremental improvements coming through with each of the upcoming versions and they’ll definitely have improved overall stability and speed performance. Though everyone looks forward to the upcoming seeds, but the first effort from Apple is pretty impressive and shows the promised improvement for sure.
