Microsoft’s First iPhone App Marketplace is Coming Soon and It’s a Web-based App

It has been confirmed by Microsoft that its first iOS app marketplace will be on hand from July onward, while this is yet not clear when will it exactly happen.

Anyhow, the marketplace will particularly not serve as an app but instead a web-based app from which users would be able to install other apps.

As per the requirement set by the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, Apple must permit the use of third-party app stores which Apple prefers to refer to as app marketplaces, in the member countries. Some stores have already been announced, while a minimum of one can be downloaded. However, nothing has even come near to what the companies like Microsoft are expected to offer to users.

As reported by Bloomberg, Microsoft will release its online store in July for the mobile games, stating that the store will be introducing some own games of Microsoft along with discounts on the in-game items that are related to the present games such as Candy Crush Saga. Microsoft plans to start the store for other publishers eventually. When it comes to why the store will be a website, it’s told to us that this is all about the compatibility across different platforms.

Microsoft saw an opportunity to create a store that “goes truly across devices — where who you are, your library, your identity, your rewards travel with you versus being locked to a single ecosystem,” Bond said. The company’s intention is to facilitate gaming across consoles, computers and mobile devices.

The latest store will be a component of Microsoft Xbox brand that should be giving us a clue of the types of apps we could expect to be installing-games, games and a lot more games.
