In case you are anticipating the release of Apple’s first ever foldable device, you may have to wait a bit longer. This comes after the reports about Apple canceling one foldable MacBook and delaying the release of another.
This is based on the information shared by Ming-Chi Kuo, a supply chain expert who posted on X and Medium to provide updates about what he thinks is planned for the foldable series of Apple.
Any foldable device has not yet been released by Apple, however, prevailing opinion has consistently indicated that a foldable MacBook or iPad might be released prior to any type of foldable iPad.
As of now, Kuo indicates that Apple has decided to scrap the 20.25-inch device which was previously rumored and has chosen a version measuring 18.8 inches. But it is not expected that the device will be released in late 2026 according to the previous expectations. Rather, Kuo now believes that the end of 2027 or possibly 2028 is probably because of “technical challenges”.
Notably, Kuo thinks that some could have missed the visibility of device in the supply chain. According to him, its reason would be the fact that some individuals identify the product as foldable MacBook whereas others describe it as foldable iPad.
Regardless of the name the unreleased device is given, it would expectedly provide a bigger display that could almost be used similar to iMac in unfolded form.
Although, when partially folded the lower half of the screen can function as a full-size touchscreen keyboard like a laptop or similar MacBook.
