Another Source Confirms Apple Is Bringing Advanced Facial Recognition Instead Of Touch ID

As the release of iPhone 8 from Apple is drawing near, there are new things getting unveiled about the upcoming smartphone with every passing day. The new iPhone is expected to make its way to public in September and there is already a lot of buzz around.

As the leaks are growing in number with every passing day, we wonder as if something will be left behind to surprise the iPhone users when the new phone arrives in September. The latest leak that we now have is from Bloomberg and the report says that iPhone 8 is coming with facial recognition.

It’s been quite some time now since we are hearing such rumors as Ming-Chi Kuo’s report also suggests of facial recognition features instead of Touch ID ( Reports Floating That Apple Will Be Selling iPhone 8 Wireless Charger Separately). And, now Bloomberg is also claiming the same with the introduction of 3D face mapping features that won’t just be quick but will also offer a secure option as compared to fingerprint scanning of Touch ID.

According to the report, the new feature focuses on accuracy and speed of the sensor. It will only take several hundred milliseconds for scanning and unlocking iPhone. The new feature is designed in a way that it will work perfectly fine even when laid flat on the table. However, this new feature is still being tested and may or may not come with new device. But still, it is intended to replace TouchID scanner with this new feature – the source confirmed. A spokesman from Apple declined to give any comment on this.

Galaxy S8 from Samsung already comes with similar facial recognition feature for unlocking the device. It also includes Iris recognition after researches suggested that facial recognition could be fooled even with a simple photograph.

However, we can safely say that Apple’s tech will definitely be far more secure with its 3D mapping capabilities. But we still have to wait and watch what the new iPhone is coming up with.
