Apple is all set to release its next big iPhone i.e. iPhone X this year after already release iPhone 8 models earlier in September. However, with Google set to release Pixel 2 and 2XL just before it, there’s a lot coming to the smartphone users in next couple of weeks.
2017 has already seen some great smartphone releases, and the trend is only expected to accelerate from here. As 2017 is approaching its end, one thing that this year will be long remembered for as far as smartphones are concerned is bezels going away.
iPhone X is expected to come with a notch right at its top where it will house TrueDepth camera. However, there will be no bezels other than that on the Apple’s 10th anniversary flagship iPhone. Samsung has already come up with its Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 models while LG has introduced V30 in the market already. All these smartphone models of 2017 from the industry giants feature minimal bezels. With Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X all set to join this league, it won’t be wrong to say that it has been a year dedicated to small bezels and those who like it in smartphones.
This fact is illustrated by a few images of 2017’s biggest releases to show how much of bezel each of these smartphones featured. Huawei Mate 10, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, iPhone X and Pixel 2XL all are featured here. It really is something to look forward to.
myaltimateform, the Reddit user, included more handsets to take things one step ahead. The user added Essential Phone to the list as it also takes somewhat similar approach when it comes to bezels as in iPhone X. There is a notch in this smartphone as well but it also features bottom chin too.
Considering all the images, the phone which really stands out from the rest in terms of minimum-to-no-bezels is iPhone X. The flagship iPhone from Apple doesn’t feature any forehead, bezel or chin, other than the notch at its front that houses TrueDepth sensor. All the rest of the smartphones from 2017 feature some sort of bezel, on one side at least, and Pixel 2 XL is the one that comes with thickest chin and forehead among the lot. The images do not show Mi Mix 2, but it also can be the part of the list because it has bezel chin towards the bottom.
Well, it’s probably unlikely that the images shown here will impact many buying decisions, but they show us exactly what has changed in smartphones over the years. Smartphones manufacturers have now decided to pamper those who have always longed for an all-screen design.
So, what do you think?Which of these smartphones truly deserve to be given the bezel-less title? Share your thoughts in comments.
