Google Maps Extends Support For iOS Home Screen Widgets On iPhone/iPad

Google Maps has rolled out a new update for the iPhone and iPad devices as it now offers support for a long-awaited feature that users have missed so much since the arrival of iOS 14.

After installing this new update to Google Maps, users can be able to enjoy using new iOS Home screen widgets.

With this new launch, Google Maps offers users a couple of widgets that they can choose from. With one of these, they can get information on traffic and weather for any specific location. The other widget offers handy shortcuts. It allows them to check out local restaurants, gas stations, etc.

“Thanks for using Google Maps! In this release, we’re launching our first set of Home Screen Widgets to help you plan and navigate to your destination.”

If you’ve already installed the Google Maps app on your device, you can now update it. If you haven’t, go get a fresh copy from the iOS app store now. The download is available completely for free and there is no charge to get these new improvements either. And, even though Apple Maps has been improved quite a lot lately, Google Maps still remains the first-choice option for many.

It’s not clear yet as to why Google took so long for introducing widgets for its Google Maps app. They could have introduced the widgets after the deployment of iOS 14 last year. But, now that they are here, you should go grab your update now and enjoy the new features.
