iOS 11.2.6 Released – Here’s Some Important Information For Jailbreak Users

If you keep following news from Apple, you’d probably be aware that iOS 11.2.6 has been released by Apple as a quick fix for patching a major bug that was causing iPhones/iPads to crash upon receiving a particular character of Telugu Language from India as a tweet or message.

Both the first party and third party apps were affected by the bug if they used the native text control from Apple.
However, iOS 11.2.6 has been released and it will have some impact on jailbreak landscape for sure. As you’d know that the latest public iOS versions were iOS 11.0 – iOS 11.1.2 and anyone could jailbreak them with the help of tools like Electra. However, with some known vulnerabilities in iOS 11.2 – iOS 11.2.2 nobody has exploited them as yet to come up with a meaningful public jailbreak.

Recently, it was confirmed by CoolStar – the developer of Electra – that the post exploit patches of Electra work on iOS versions under 11.2.5 and that meant if somebody might have introduced new tfp0 exploit, we could’ve got a jailbreak for iOS 11.2.x at hand. However, as CoolStar is part of this unending drama, we’re not so sure if another jailbreak is under works or not after the release of Electra jailbreak for iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2.

Coming back to iOS 11.2.6, considering the fact that currently we do not have any information available publicly about exploits and vulnerabilities which could be used to jailbreak iOS 11.2.5, we can easily say that iOS 11.2.6 may not be jailbroken either until a publicly known exploit is being used for coming up with the jailbreak.

As Apple is only signing the iOS 11.2.5 and iOS 11.2.6 versions, you will have to make sure that you stay on any version between iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2 if you want to jailbreak your iOS device. Soon there’s going to be a complete iOS jailbreak having Cydia. However, if you’re on iOS 11.2.2 or any other version below that just do not upgrade to latest iOS 11.2.6 as in our opinion iOS 11.2.x would be your second best option as its chances of getting jailbroken are higher than any other latest version.

So, just stay tuned as we’ll be coming up with more updates on the jailbreak!
