A report has just come to the scene from Macotakara that reveals further information about 2018 iPhone lineup that is rumored to feature 3 new iPhones.
Citing a reliable supplier source, while keeping it unnamed, it is suggested in an article on Macotakara that upcoming 6.5” iPhone X Plus is going to have similar physical size as current iPhone 8 Plus. Still, it is expected to have a bigger display which will be considerably larger compared to 5.5” display of the previous Plus model.
The similar size, despite having bigger screen, might be possible due to smaller bezels in iPhone X Plus, as that’s probably what will allow larger screens to easily fit into the dimensions that are similar to current Plus size handsets. Still, there’s a bit of difference expected in size and that’s going to be in thickness. The new iPhone X Plus is expected to have 0.2mm thickness because of the protruding camera bulge that it will come with.
Now coming to rest of the iPhones in the lineup, the piece from Macotakara again confirmed that 6.1” iPhone that is part of the latest rumors is going to have LCD display. However, the report suggests that the LCD display is going to be a little smaller going at 6”. Face ID support is also expected but it is still not clear as yet.
As far as Face ID is concerned, it is also claimed in the report that new iOS 12 will offer support for horizontal Face ID authentication. It really makes sense if one of the upcoming iPad models is expected to offer support for this security feature.
iPads having support for Face ID have long been rumored since the introduction of iPhone X and it will definitely make sense as we move forward. The timescales haven’t been made clear yet, however.
