Installation of watchOS 4 beta tends to be more complex in comparison to macOS or iOS beta. However, it is also for the developers only. The public beta hasn’t yet arrived which means the developers need to read this for installing watchOS 4 beta to their devices. The installation process first requires the installation of a beta certificate. After that you have to download beta software to an iPhone with iOS 11 beta and then transfer it to the Apple watch and run it there. Though not too hard, but the lengthy process requires some patience on your part.

The certificate that you installed earlier will tell Watch app installed on the iPhone that new watchOS 4 is now available. As soon as the app detects the certificate, you can try the same installation process as you do with other updates in the watchOS. The steps you should follow are described here.
- Launch Apple Watch application after connecting the iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.
- Tap on My Watch.
- Now tap General.
- Tap Software Update.
- Next, tap Download & Install.
- Enter iPhone Passcode .
- Now tap to Agree to Terms & Conditions.
- Ensure that there is 50% charging remaining in your Apple watch, at least, and connect magnetic charger.
- Now tap on Install in Apple Watch and/or iPhone.
This will download the update for your watchOS and it will then be transferred to the Apple Watch and once downloaded the watch will restart for applying your update. The progress can be followed on the screen of your Apple Watch and as soon as it completes, you’re all good to use it.

If the update doesn’t go through verification stage then you should try again. However, if it continues to fail then you should un-pair the Apple Watch and re-pair it before trying again.
How You Can Downgrade watchOS?
All we can say here is that one can’t simply downgrade their watchOSall by themselves. The Apple Watch will need to be sent to Apple and they’ll downgrade it for you. Only this factor may need you to think twice before you opt to install the developer beta for watchOS 4 on your Apple Watch. So, decide if you really need it or not and then go ahead.
